                                                       PARDONS GRANTED.
                                In 1925, 229 persans detained in the penitentiary or prisons of the
                            Pro~jnce of Quebec, were pardoned.      Among those who benefited by
                            this, 108 were in the St. Vincent de Paul penitentiary, 64 were incarcer-
                            ated at Bordeaux and the others were interned in the various prisons
                            or reformatory schools of the Province. In Canada, for the same year,
                            1,127 prisoners were liberated viz: 1,068 men and 59 women.

                                                     GENERAL CRIMINALITY.
                                 The following table gives the number of children convicted in
                            comparison ta that of the adults.   Persans of less than 16 years of age
                            are children in the eyes of the law.  The total number of serious and
                            minor offences amaunted ta mare than 177,000 in 1925.
