Members of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants
(established in 1897 in the United States) must provide
evidence of their lineage in each generation from one of the
known Pilgrim passengers on the vessel A4qfIower, which
landed at Plymouth, hlassachusetts, in December of 1620.
The Canadian Society of hfayflower Descendants was
formed in 1980, as a branch of the General Society, because,
of course, Americans and Canadians have always moved
back and forth across our mutual border, and some well-
rooted Canadians have colonial American ancestors.
Mayflower descendants to the fourth or fifth generation
have been well documented in the Society's Five Generation
Prqect, so potential members often need only pursue their
own research to one of those descendants. The Society
Historian will advise and assist each applicant while the Web
site provides valuable tips on research and documentation.

The Canadian Heraldic Authority is not a lineage society,
but is of interest to anyone with connections to an
armigerous line. The CHA was established in 1988, with
the same Royal Prerogative as Her Majesty's two ancient
heraldic offices in the United angdom: the College of Arms
in London and the Court of the Lord Lyon in Edinburgh.
