AN ACT TO ESTABLISH THE QUEBEC BUREAU OF STATISTICS.


                                         (R. S. P. Q., 1925, Vol. 1, c. 18, div. VI).

                                (Formerly 3 Geo. V, c. 16, amended by 11 Geo. V, c. 23).





                              Whereas it is in the public interest to establish a Bureau of Pro-
                         vincial Statistics in order to collect, condense, tabulate and publish
                         aU sorts of statistics and information respecting agriculture, commerce,
                         industry, education, colonization and other matters of concern to the.
                         Province and its inhabitants.
                              Therefore, His Majesty, with the advice and consent of the Legisla-
                         tive Council and of the Legislative Assembly of Quebec, enacts as
                         follows:

                               1. The follcwing division and articles are inserted in the Revised
                         Statutes, 1925, after division fifth of chapter eighteenth, volume first:

                                              "QUEBEC BUREAU OF STATISTICS"


                              "30. In this division, unless the context otherwise reqUlres:
                              1. The word ((Minister" means the Provincial Secretary;

                              2. The word "Head" means the head of the Quebec Bureau of
                         Statistics;

                              3. The word "Bureau" means the Quebec Bureau of Statistics.
                              "31. There shaH be established under the author,ity of the Pro-
                         vincial Secretary a permanent bureau caUed tlThe Quebec Bureau of
                         Statistics", and the Lieutenant-Governor in Council may appoint, for
                         the good administration of this service, a head of the bureau and the
                         other necessary officers, clerles and employees whose duty it shaH be,
                         under the direction of the Minister, to carry out the provisions of this
                         division and to perform such other duties as may be assigned to them
                         from time to time by the Lieutenant-Governor in Council.
                              "32. The Minister may also employ, from time to time, the staff
                         of his department or such other persons as may be necessary, to collect,
