COLONIZATION REGIONS IN THE PROVINCE OF QUEBEC.
(SHOWN BY SJ::(A OINO)
The main rolonization regions of the Province include the North
Western part of Quebec, the Saguenay region (La,ke St. John and Chi-
coutimi counties) and the South Eastern part, (Matane, Matapedia,
Bonaventure and Gaspé counties).
Table 16 shows the progress made for the year 1920 to 1925. The
following figures were given to the Department of Colonization by the
religious authorities of the dioceses of Haileybury, Mount Laurier,
Chicoutimi, Rimouski and Gaspe. The total increase for the above
mentioned period reached over 26,000 inhabitants The population 01
the colonization parishea in the counties of Abitibi and Lake St. John
inareased hy 5,907 and 5,568 respectively. '
