COLONIZATION 153

COLONIZATION ROADS.

The following table is a statement of the work perfo"med on colon-
ization roads in the various c.ounties of the Province for the year 1926.
The grants were used in the constl'uct;on as weIl as in the maintenance
of colonization roads and also C'ontributed to the building of a large
nllmbe r of schools. The greatest improvement was made in the counties
of Abitbi, Gaspe, Chicoutimi, Lake St. John, Matapedia and Bona-
venture, ln these regions mostly aH pal'ishes are conneC'ted by wftgon
roads. Municipal contributions for the same year a.mounted to $27,742.
