Called to the Priesthood



                Canike, Fernand: secular priest, born in Hammond; son of Joachim Caniere and Florida Richer. Ordained
                by Msg. Vachon 16 May 1948 in Hammond.

                Marta], Go-Paul: secular priest, born in Hammond 9 August 191 5; son of Joseph Martel and Ida Benson.
                Ordained  by  Msg.  Vachon  29  June  1940. Was  curate  first  in  Sarsfield,  then  ChGte-a-Blondeau,
                Hawkesbury, Casselman, Papineauville (Qu), and Gatineau. Named Parish Priest in Luskville and finally
                inRipon, Qu. in 1959. Died 11 October 1976 in Ripon where he had worked for seventeen years.


                Martel, Lawent: secular priest, brother of Leo-Paul, born in Hammond 3 1 October 1920. Ordained to the
                priesthood  on the  16 May  1948 by  Msg. Vachon  in  the very  church where  he  had  been baptized,
                St.Mathieu. Was curate in Sarsfield, Plantagenet, Thurso, Hull and Montebello, named Parish Priest in
                St.Pierre parish in Wakefield.





                                                   Ordained to the Diaconate


                Rsnaud, Andre: born  18 June 1942, married to Andrke Lachaine on 26 December  1968, was a school
                principal  with the Carleton Catholic School Board until his retirement in the spring of 1986. He was
                ordained a deacon by Mgr. Plowde on the 14 May 1978, and, as such, Andre helps the parish priest in his
                many duties, with the exception of Confession and celebrating Mass.

                Brassew:  two daughters of Arthur Brasseur and Marie Couture became Sisters of Ste.Anne in Lachine,
                Qu

                Carrikre, Ida: born in Hammond 1 July 1907, daughter of Mathias Carrike and Nodie Pemer. Entered
                order of the Sisters of the Immaculate Conception in  1932. Missionary in the Philippines and interned in
                a concentration camp by  the Japanese from 1941 to 1945.

                Charlebois, h: daughter of Ferdinand Charlesbois and Zelia Brunet, born in Curran 23 November,
                1898. Moved to Hammond with her family as a young girl. Entered the Grey Nun order, with her sister
                Malvina, on 15 February,  1924. Became a nurse, worked in various hospitals in Eastern Ontario. Died
                O~l.1959.


                Charlebois, Malvina: sister of Anna,  born in Curran 27 February, 1900. Grey Nun in  1924 with her sister.
                Worked in various orphanages and old people homes in Ontario and Quebec until her death on 11 April,
                1984.
