       1694.-Foundation of :Montreal G-eneral Hospital by M. Charon de la Barre. In 1747 this
                institution ·was confided t.o Madame d'Youville, foundress of Bisters of Charity.
       1695.-Fort Cataracoui, rebuilt, by Frontenac.
       1696.-D'Iberville captures St. John, Newfoundland, and fort Pè:r;naquid.
       1697.-Trea.ty of R.ysVi'Ïck: Hudson Bay restored ta France, and Newfoundland ta England.
       1698.-Ursuline couvent B,t Three Rivets, founded by Mgr. de St. Vallier. Death of Frontenac.

                founded by Lamothe Cadillac and Mobile by Lemoyne de Bienville. Canadians

                St. Vallier, returning from France on the "Scîne", made prîsoner by the English and

                repulsed by Governor Subercase.
       170S.-Canadians capture the EngLish posts on NeViioundland.
       1706.-Death of d'Iberville, at lIa.vana.
       1707.-March attacks Port Royal, but driven off after a siege of 9 days.

       1709.-M. de St. Ovide captures the forts defending St. John, ~ewfoundland.
       1710.-Port Royal (now Annapolis), captured by the EngIish.  M. de Subercase obtains s.n
                honorable capitulation.
       1711.-Walker's fieet, bound for Quebec, destroyed by a storm in the Gulf of St. Lawrence and

                of Lake Champlain.
       1731.-Discovery of Lake of the Woods and Lake Manitoba. by LB Verendrye. Forts St. Charles
                and St. Pierre erected.
       1733.-LB Verendrye discovers Lake ,"Vlnnipeg. Fort Maurepas erected. First forge established
                at St. Maurice. Mgr. Dosquet, 4th bishop of Quebee.
