Lutheran Baptisms
Not all early church records in Upper Canada were in
English, as shown by this page by a German-speaking
minister who served adherents in the Loyalist-settled
Midland District of Ontario. He recorded dates of birth and
baptism, names of parents and godparents but no places of
residence. Notice that not all the names are Germanic; with
a lack of English-speaking clergy, this minister's services
were valued in a wide area.
