A.-eONSTITUTION OF THE GOVERNMENT

EXECUTIVE POWER
The exeeutive power lies with a Lieutenant-Governor, acting in the
name of the King and under the responsibility of an executive Counci1.
The Lieutenant-Governor is name.d by the Government of Canada.
and reeeives an annual salary of $10,000, payable by the latter.

The 'members of the Executive Council or ministers are named by
the Lieutenant-Governor and must be members of either the Legislative
Council or the Legislative Assembly. They actually number 12, four of
whom have no portfolio. The ministers with portfolios are: 1° The
Attorney-General, who is also Minister of Municipal Affairs; 2° The
Provincial 8ecretary; 3 Q The Treasurer of the Province; 4° The Min-
ister of Lands and Forests; 5° The Minister of Colonization, Mines and
Fisheries; 6° The Minister of Agriculture; 7° The Minister of Public
Works and Labour; 8 Q The Minister of Roads.
The Prime Minister's salary lS $12,000 and that of the other mm-
isters with porfolios is $6,000.
The Public Instruction Department is under the direction of a
superintendent, named by the Lieutenant-Governor in Council and lS
under thE' ju.rlsdiction of the Provincial Secretary.
