in the inscriptions in this book, Names and abbreviations or intialr in the index
generally correspond to those inscribed on the monuments.
Wherever possible, if initials on Qne stone seem to be those of an individual
whose full name appears on a nearby stone, both are indexed under the full name.
411 stones that bear s particular name are indexed under the one name even though
they may represent two or more individuals with that name.
Married women have been indexed under both )married and maiden names wherever
such informtion has been provided in the inscriptions. If the name is indexed under
the mrried surname, the maiden surname a ears in br&e& after the Chrirtian name.
If the name is indexed unG the maide-married surname is undermd.
In some inrtances, it war thought prudent to index a women's name under two surnames
if there war doubt ar to which of her names were the maiden surname.
Names vith a dot after the stone number are those whore death not~ce or obituary
appears in this publication.
