I would like to acknowledge the help and assistance of many
people in the cornpletion of this volume. Mrs. Addie Shields, Clinton
County Historian, and Doris Burgess and Theresa Conroy, volunteers
in her office, were very helpful.
I consulted the McClellan Cemetery Records of Clinton County
on several occasions to determine the inscription on stones that had
deteriorated over the years. These records were made and recorded
by Hugh McClelBn, son Charles Woodbury, and daughter-in-law,
Hulda (Bredenbe~rg) Mcclellan. I also used these records to locate
several of the older cemeteries.
